CURRICULUM St Rose offers educational opportunities from pre-school through 8th grade. The goals of our pre-school programs are to give children a fun and positive first time experience in a classroom environment and to prepare them for Kindergarten. Our elementary programs begins with a Kindergarten program that meets for ½ day in the 1st semester and goes full day the 2nd semester. This schedule is unique in our service area. The kindergarten curriculum focuses heavily on language arts and math which leads into our elementary grades where teachers work to assure mastery of state standards, and wherever possible, go above and beyond those standards to give our students a deeper understanding of the concepts. Our elementary teachers are highly experienced and dedicated. Our middle school program features three highly qualified teachers who teach the four core curricular areas (Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies), along with Religion and Computers. We frequently benchmark our students’ progress using standardized tests and use the results to determine individualized instruction for each student. We have a resource teacher on staff to provide assistance to those students with special needs. All our students participate in Fine Arts instruction with specialized Art, PE, Music, Library and foreign language teachers. St Rose provides a range of extensive extra-curricular activities such as: CYO Sports, Student Council, Study Groups, Community Service, Scouts and importantly students have the opportunity to define new activities. St. Rose has excellent, well maintained learning facilities. Each classroom has a video monitor and connections to cable stations. A computer network serves the entire school. Each teacher has a peronal computer station and there is a mobile cart with netbooks for classroom use as well as a dedicated computer lab. The Kurek Science Lab is a unique facility that enables middle school students to learn science through hands-on experimentation. The “Studio” is our a new Fine Arts facility.
