St. Rose of Lima Catholic School

Punk n Rock Extravaganza!!!

In August of 2002, St. Rose of Lima School began its inaugural 8th Grade class. It was decided that as part of the 8th grade experience, the class would take an overnight trip to St. Louis, Missouri.

In order to go on this trip, fundraising would be necessary. The 8th Grade teacher, Mrs. Glynn decided that the kids would present a show during Catholic Schools Week, called Punk-N-Rock.

Punk-N-Rock is a Lip-Sync show presented by the 7th & 8th Grade classes at St. Rose. Singing, dancing, painting props and having fun are the key ingredients for a great Punk-N-Rock show Add in the help of the 6th grade class as the Stage Crew, and you have a Middle School Show to remember!

The show includes songs to make you laugh, as well as appreciate the work involved in the production. Students have danced to Play That Funky Music (2003), Toast (2004) and Roll Out the Barrel (2005). King Tut (2006) shimmied his way across the stage and we all boogied to Shake Your Bootie (2007). Honoring our Indiana troops was the intention in the rendition of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B (2008) and dancing through the aisles to Shake Your Tail Feather (2009) brought fun to the crowd!

Punk-N-Rock is a great family evening at St. Rose. The younger students can't wait to have their chance and the older students cherish the opportunity to strut their stuff! The fun is summed up by Ethan who is a St. Rose Pre-schooler. Ethan rocked out while watching his brother perform this year. When the show was over, he told his mom - “I just don't know what I'm gonna sing for my PunkinRock song.” You'll have to mark your calendar so you get to see him!
